The Naturalist and Christian answers to Foundation Worldview Questions Assignment
The Naturalist and Christian answers to Foundation Worldview Questions - Assignment ExampleWhen first studying a worldview, it is practically helpful to review a variety of definitions for that belief system. Each author brings a different emphasis, providing a fuller understanding of that worldview. Naturalism is the belief that temperament is all there is. There is nothing outside of nature, or if there is, it is unknowable. All phenomena, whether physical, biological, psychological, or even spiritual, can be completely explained by laws of nature. God, in this metaphysical system, is inherently a product of human imagination, and therefore a relic from prescientific times, when humans knew no better than to attribute to a supernatural universe their own existence and that of everything else they encountered (Johnson, n.d.). In contrast, the question is answered with a resounding Yes by someone with a Biblical worldview. Unlike the naturalist who says that matter is eternal, the Christian says that entirely God is eternal and all matter was created by God. The idea that there is no God has significant impact on the naturalists ethics. If there is no God, and so there is no objective, external standardized for ethics. There is no way to objectively define right and wrong outside of mankind. Since there is no standard for ethics outside of mankind, ethics are defined by ones culture and society.

Theology Paper - Essay ExampleAgain, there is the aspect of religions existence traditions that have been handed down from old times. Similarly, Freud seems to agree that all religions are the same since it is forbidden to question the authentication of religion. Because of this, Freud points out that any presumptuous occasion was met with severest of penalties and that even up to the present, the society criticizes anybody who questions religion.According to Freud, the society is aware of the shortcomings of religions and this is why it does not tolerate the questioning of religious tenets. The only reason for obeying religious doctrine is because the ancestors believed in the religious doctrines and ideals. Freud seems to indirectly and cleverly say that religion is a mythical affair founded upon ignorance when he says that people simply obey religion because their forefathers believed in them and that these ancestors were far more ignorant than the current generation is (Freud, 33-5).Freud continues that he does not deny the truthfulness of religion and the ability to prove the truth of religious doctrine. By the truth of religious doc trine, Freud means that religion contains values that when disobeyed can lead to social breakdown and that the doubts and fears that ancestors had are the same with the ones in the present generation.Nevertheless, the in a higher place discussion concerns Freuds personal position and understanding of religion. It is interesting how Freud, a psychologist develops a standpoint so wide and authoritative on religion, a demesne that concerns metaphysical beings.Far from the average idea that all religions are a social construct meant at maintaining and securing social order, not all religions are nigh the same thing if the same thing is about maintaining social order. Some religions such as the Abrahamic faiths Judaism, Christianity and Islam are too

Dentify the basic provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act that specifically deal with ethics and Independence and research how this Act has touch on auditors since it was established in 2002 - Essay ExampleAn example is the collapse of Enron. Unethical conduct on the part of Corporate CEOs and Audit Firms was responsible (Rezzy, 2007). To avoid a repeat of the same, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was passed to instill ethics and instigate independence auditors. The essay covers specific provisions of the statute intended to promote ethics and independence to show how the act has affected auditors.Section 101 created the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as an independent body with the onus to monitor and scotch the activities of auditors (Freeman, 2009). The board has since ensured that auditors comply with the provisions of the legislation as well as comply with the code of ethics for persons in the auditing business. Since the introduction of the Board, it is believed that audit ma lpractice has reduced delinquent to the stiffer penalties that threaten implicated firms as a result of the Boards investigations according to Romano (Romano, 2005).Title III from section 301 to 308 endeavors to promote ethics by obligating play along executives to be personally responsible for the financial reports of the corporate, whether quarterly, semi-annually or annually. To avoid malpractice, CEOs and other chief management staff are required to inspect and pass as accurate the financial statements of the company before they are released. This in turn makes the officers personally liable if any misstatements are made that could be misleading as to the financial soundness of the company. Green states that any officer required to append signature on a financial report must only do so after doing due diligence using their knowledge to make sure that everything stated therein is true to avoid personal liability (Green, 2004). This has had the gist of reducing fraud as corpora te executives struggle to ensure that financial reports are as accurate as

Psychology of Personality Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Psychology of Personality - Personal Statement ExampleI can be quite flexible and adapt to demanding environments, which I savor is necessary to be successful in life. I am also quite open-minded and accommodative of suggestions. However, I strongly depend on my convictions to aim decisions. Although I am strongly driven by logic, I can be instinctive at times. I am moderately interested towards gifted pursuits, but quite inquisitive and fairly creative. I also exhibit empathy whenever necessary, and place emphasis on benevolent values and the simple joys of life.According to Sigmund Freuds guess of soulality, our actions and thoughts are influenced by three components of out mind called the ego, super ego and Id. The ego is responsible for thinking logically and making decisions by analyzing the practical implications of our actions. The Id drives raw material urges of pleasure and is far from logic, while the super ego does the exact opposite of curbing desire by considering moral values. When the ego fails to come up a logical explanation, our defense mechanism unconsciously tries to distort reality to escape the situation. When I have to make a tough decision in my life, I very much realize this conflict in my mind between my conscience, basic urges and logic. I try my best to be logical, but tend to be influenced a lot by my conscience and instincts. I have also realized that I use humor as a defense mechanism in a vulnerable conversation. Freuds theory of awareness tells us that the three levels of awareness are conscious, preconscious and subconscious minds. The conscious is something that is always on our mind, while the preconscious includes things that are in the back of our mind. However, most of actions are triggered by something called the subconscious which is completely out of our control. I often feel guilty when I make bad decisions and fiendish myself for not making the proper choice. Learning about this theory has ridden me of the gu ilt of making such decisions which are very much out of my control. I often used get disappointed when people did not meet my expectations. However, I realized after sometime that this was a result of me setting standards and expectations for other people. Realizing this has been a liberating experience and I have learnt to accept people for what they are and this has freed from disappointments. Freud explains this phenomenon by his theory of transference. According to this theory, we transfer our perceptions of one person to another. We tend to create images of person by relating them to other peoples characteristics and this leads to the formation of stereotypes (Changing Minds). People are obviously not the same, and hence transferring expectations often ends in disappointment. The sooner we learn this, the better. B.F. Skinners theory of reinforcement implies that human behavior is based on the resulting consequences. Hence, a behavior that results in positive consequences will be repeated and vice-versa. This essentially means that behavior can be trained offering appropriate rewards and punishments. For instance, I do not spend time worrying about past unfortunate events since it only causes belief. Hence, the punishment of depression forces me not to worry about unhappy incidents. A behavior that brings no significant consequences will fade away with time. However, the theory of reinforcement is a functional one rewards and punis

Saponification - Lab Report ExampleAlthough soaps and detergents are surfactants they are different in that sops are do from natural products while detergents are made from man-made product which may have some negative effect on the environment. Soaps work through a process called emulsification. This is where soap combines with non water soluble agents detaching them from the material. A micelle can be found in colloidal electrolyte solutions of soaps and detergents. It is formed from an aggregate of molecules resulting in charged particles (Herz 136). governance of kilobyte soap is as a result of carboxylate anions and univalent cation to form a soap salt. A mixture of anions is due to the fatty pane residue present in the triglyceride molecule. No precipitate is formed with water because potassium soaps are highly soluble. The experiment was a success as potassium soap which was the required product was achieved at the end of the experiment. The potassium soap was able to remove grease thus proving the efficiency of the product. Hard water contains minerals that easily react with soap to form a solid precipitate called meth, detergents do not react with the minerals in hard water thus the lack of scum while using detergents, this one demerit of using soap over detergent. Soap is cheap and does not damage the fabric compared to detergent. Detergents on the other pass are effective against tough stains compared to soaps (Herz
